Public Policy Priorities

Through our data-driven programs, Changent’s approach and accountable results demonstrate a clear return on investment, using community resources effectively and maximizing the impact of public and private funds.  To advance our mission, we are focused on advancing nonpartisan, evidence-based policy solutions that improve the health and wellbeing of families, reduce disparities, improve access to high-quality care, expand funding, build a stronger workforce, advance care coordination, and promote economic mobility – influencing change across communities and generations. 

Sustain and expand funding for Child First, Nurse-Family Partnership, and other evidence-based solutions 

We prioritize building a diverse stream of public funding sources to support the growth and sustainability of our programs for long-term impact, including:

  • Maximizing the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program – the largest source of federal funding for evidence-based home programs
    Improving and expanding Medicaid coverage of Child First and NFP services to improve access for families
  • Securing and growing other funding sources and state initiatives that support prevention and intervention programs

Support policy and systems changes that reduce disparities, increase care coordination, and expand access to high-quality care

We are focused on policies that strengthen coordination of care across health and social service providers; prioritize upstream and preventative solutions to improve health; and drive investments in strategies that deliver results and return-on-investment – moving us toward a system that delivers better, more accessible care for families.

Advance clinical workforce innovations  

Our clinical workforce of nurses and mental health clinicians are the backbone of our programs. We prioritize policies and innovations that support the needs of our workforce improve retention, and help build a diverse pipeline of providers – including pay equity, loan repayment, public health service incentives, health clinician education pathways, and more.

Invest in prevention and intervention programs that improve economic mobility 

We support families in their own self-sufficiency by prioritizing a strong safety net for those facing greatest disparities – including nutrition assistance, housing, mental and behavioral health supports, child and family welfare, workforce development and education– and policies like paid leave and childcare that strengthen workforce participation and economic mobility.
